Oh dear. Its been an age again. Sorry. We have now finished broadcast of the series and like my fellow bakers I am wandering around somewhat lost. It was a pretty good way to spend a summer and the fact that you all got in touch week after week to send the loveliest messages made it even better. Thank you all. I appreciate every single one of you.There is a question I am contemplating currently though: what on earth next? Its all been a bit exciting so far (see below) so I am very keen to see how everything will unfold. I spent my weekend in Glasgow with my wee sister Hebe who is now studying there. We had a particularly enjoyable Sunday at the fantastic Cottonrake, (the best carrot cake and white chocolate tart, though I also really fancied everything else) then I bought my body weight in amazing fruit and veg at Roots & Fruits. It was easy and relaxing and exactly what I needed.Here is a few of the things I have been up to during the series:
Blue Peter. Amazing. My six year old self was squealing with excitement. The episode is no longer available but here is an exclusive online clip of me making a fool of myself.
BAFTA EatFilm dinner. Very very delicious dinner at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly with movie king Mark Kermode and a screening of Local Hero. Again I squealed with excitement. Food and film together is the best sort of event I can think of.
Filming an Extra Slice. Twice. Great audience, lovely guests and lots of hilarity - whats not to enjoy?
Catching up with the tallest man I know. Always a giggle.
BBC Radio Scotland interviews. I love a blether in case you hadn't noticed so they were fun.
Eating at Ottolenghi. OK not exactly a Bake Off related event but Mumma and I went for dinner the night before my recording of Extra Slice and it was one of the best meals I have had. We went back in the morning for pastries of course.
You and Yours. A very early morning pre record with the fantastic Winifred Robinson on the day of the final. Chatting all things GBBO.
Great Scot Awards. Hebe and I enjoyed a lovely and inspiring night watching phenomenal people win well deserved awards. Paolo Nutini was also a pretty special watch.
